God anointing Jesus with the Holy Spirit probably refers to his baptism when the Spirit descended on him. Jesus was fully God and fully human. For the first time in eternity his diety was confined to a time and place, Jesus' physical body. Prior to this time he existed in perfect communion with the Father and the Holy Spirit with a spiritual nature that is not bound by time and space. I believe God was demonstrating a spiritual reality using a physical manifestation when the Spirit descended on (anointed) him at his baptism. God demonstrated his unity with and endorsement of Jesus as his son. When Jesus with into the desert to be tempted by Satan he was said to have been filled with (I.e., controlled by) the Holy Spirit. In his high priestly prayer in John 17 Jesus said that the Father was in him and he was in the Father. The Father, Son and Spirit were in perfect unity. That unity was broken for a brief period when Jesus took our sins on himself on the cross. The Father and the Holy Spirit broke fellowship with him at this time (Matt. 27:46). Once the sin debt was paid the relationship was restored. Was the Holy Spirit in Jesus, after his baptism, and throughout his ministry, then left him as he died on the cross? Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18307111946821104955noreply@blogger.com
